Last Minute Warm-ups!

Getting into the really gritty bits of animating my final so I decided to take a break and do something fun and quick in photoshop.  Just a basic walk-cycle for practice since Pollo’s anatomy is so wacky!

Also a little sketch practice with Prof. Alexander.

Anansi

Just some character designs I did based on the West African God, Anansi (the spider). I really wanted to design one of the tricksters, but pop culture has already kind of ran with Loki and Hermes, and Anansi is probably my favorite of them anyway!

And here I’ve done a few more sketches based on some stories we read, along with a couple extra characters and Anansi’s spider form. Lots of fun!

And in these final weeks of clean up before graduation I have finally settled on a design that I can draw easily and consistently! Here’s some quick sketches for warm-up and the final designs! Time to animate my little cat-lizard like crazy!!

These are the final official characters I’ve designed and will be put in charge of animating for the collaborative project! Can’t wait!

Colored and Sketchy Sketches

A few quick character sketches, including my dog and me and more practice for my other projects.


Lately I’ve adopted blocked in color as another form of sketching, because it’s quick, simple and it’s easy to make look nice if you really end up liking the outcome!

I was put in charge of finalizing half the storyboard for our 2-2:30 minute collaborative animation, so I spent a little time practicing expressions based on our 3D model. That’s right, I’m animating in 3D this time!

Also, I did some simple layout concepts for the scenes I’m currently working on.

Arroz and Pollo!

Since I finally settled on a design I liked, I broke Pollo down to basic shapes and it’s so much easier to draw him consistently now! Which is good because I’m getting into the rough animation stage!

I also drew a more adult version of Arroz. I figure if I can draw him as an adult, I can then go back and add the pudge and big eyeballs to make a better looking puppy awww.
