Character Revisions!

It’s amazing how much my style can change in a few months.  I’ve been tackling one of last semester’s projects again and hop to have a nice storyboard done in the next few weeks!

Before I started the official storyboards I wanted to make sure I was totally happy with the character designs, so that lead to more practice and revisions.  Both Biscuit and Fish got the treatment (even though Fish only has a cameo in this particular plotline but ssshh).

For the storyboards I basically ended up combining the top left with the original design, keeping him cute, simple and expressive.

and a couple selected storyboards (in no particular order) I’ve gotten done this week.

Expect more soon!

Final Designs!

These are the final official characters I’ve designed and will be put in charge of animating for the collaborative project! Can’t wait!

Mr. Biggles gets to creep into the background.

Mr. Barkley is going to be rigged and highly caffeinated.

And my baby, Mo, gets to be rudely interrupted in his marathon by a pie to the face.

Gestures and Ladies

I’m really enjoying my sketch class this semester, so I decided to clean up a couple of the gestures I like most.  If anyone’s interested in the sketchy, sketchy poses, I have a blog for the class over here.

And now just a couple of ladies since I don’t think I draw ladies enough, with a special appearance by yours, truly.  Some of these are observational, most are fresh outta my mind tank.

Walter Mitty

I’m not going to say much about The Secret Life of Walter Mitty except:
PLEASE GO SEE THE SECRET LIFE OF WALTER MITTY

It took the spot of my all-time favorite movie before it finished and I’m not even going to embarrass myself by saying how many times I saw it in theaters *cough 7 cough*.  So naturally I drew some goofy fanart in preparation for a more ambitious piece I’m currently working on.

This was really simple, mainly for costume reference (every time I saw the movie I had to edit this a little more).mittyyy
Just a basic Walter design I might make into a sticker for my Mac.

I should probably mention that Ben Stiller’s huge influence on this film made me have to revisit all my favorite films/characters of his.  It’s getting a little out of hand.bensss“Did somebody say wonder?”

Progress Shots

I did these a while back for a coworker who wanted something for her husband that involved their little baby dog Sophie.  My go-to for traditional art at the time was Prismacolor markers, although I’ve recently fallen in love with Tombow brand markers.  Here’s the finished products as well as the progress shots.

The lighting isn’t the best in my apartment, but you get the idea.  They are an adorable couple, though!

I posted a simpler version of this one a while ago that I had done for some practice, but Anne liked it so much she wanted to buy it as well.  So I spent a little extra time on it making it cute.

Characters

Remember that animation I started last semester? Well, it’s more than half done and I’ve decided to revamp the character designs.  Unnecessary? Sure. Excessive? Maybe. BUT I think it will look 10 times more fun in the end.

And my marathon runner sloth (his favorite is The Color Run) who may or may not make it in a collaborative project this semester.

I’m Back!

After a very fun and productive Christmas break, I’m comfortably settled into the new semester and ready to update again.
This is just a reminder that while my blog may occasionally be on hiatus, my newly made Instagram [@blipbloops] is consistently being updated with sketches, puppies and a little of the usual digital art.

Anyone else watch all 4 days of AMC’s Breaking Bad marathon until your eyes bled?
